Members are encouraged to build a module which can be joined in with the rest of the group layout. Modules are essentially small 'layouts' of a nominally standard size (4 feet x 2 feet) which have a minimum of 4 ballasted tracks across the front and some basic scenery. To allow new modules to connect up with others we have a set of basic 'standards', which all new modules need to follow.

There is a booklet with all the standards explained which is available to all members ( see here)

Help is always available for anyone who wishes to build a module - if you have never build a layout before, modules are a good way to learn the basic skills. They are small enough to be brought to a group meeting where you can be given help and advice on  building the baseboard; or tracklaying, wiring or any other aspect which you are unsure of.
